F*ck, Marry, Kill (2024)

F*ck, Marry, Kill. Three new couples. Three stories. Destined to end.

But how?

Either way we end with a bang.

Based on the popular game everyone has spent long car rides and afternoons at the pub playing, your favourite improvisers bring these hypotheticals to life. New characters and side-splitting stories each night, brought to you by the ultimate couple: Variegated Productions and The Big HOO-HAA!

The cast includes Perth favourites Libby Klysz, Sam Longley and Elise Wilson;

who are joined by national and international guest stars.

Gracie and Yvan in Development

Nimble (2020-2021, In Development)

What happens when you put a dancer, an actor, a musician and a visual artist in a room, all with equal billing? And ask them to make a show as fast as they can?

We create nimble work when there is immediate need. Work that is unique and excellent. Bespoke projects for your venue and your community.

Variegated Productions shows often explore multiple artforms and themes of connection, and work with a variety of collaborators for a range of presentation outcomes.

Joining us will be Matt Edgerton, who has an astute and canny eye for overseeing live performance. In addition, esteemed actor Sam Longley, emerging movement director and dancer Yvan Karlsson, revered visual artist Tarryn Gill, and sought after musician Gracie Smith are part of the team.

---

With familiar show development processes hugely disrupted by Covid-19, the way we make work must change. Audience needs are in constant flux. Venues and presenters need new work that functions in new contexts; and they need it fast (and inexpensive). We want to take programming in the style of paddock to plate. The intention for this creative development is to explore maximum sustainability in project process: working towards an in-demand outcome that uses time and resources as efficiently as possible.

Ragnarøkkr (2020)

Darkness. There are sounds of ice melting, glaciers creaking and a cold winter wind blowing. A tall, hunched figure in a pool of light appears: shirtless with tight black jeans and platform boots. He has a mighty beard, and a microphone.

Ragnarokkr is Armageddon with the armour stripped off and the speakers turned up to 11. Meet the band at the burning centre of the end days: Nick Cave meets Ziggy Stardust in a Norse inspired musically riotous fall from grace.

From Variegated Productions comes this hotly anticipated follow up show to The Man and The Moon: "★★★★ ½ some of best and most compelling theatre seen in Perth in recent times" The West Australian

Get ready to rock until the bitter end; this is a show about coming to terms with the fact that it's time to move on.

Frankie’s (2018)

Come spend a night at Frankie’s, the best dive bar in town with the best customers-you. Grab a table and make new friends, or catch up with old ones.Over the night follow the lives of the staff and regular punters at Frankie’s. Each episode promises anew episode, fresh songs and open arms. You’re going to love it here-it’s warm, friendly, and there’s an actual working bar for you. Really. Oh, and live music!

This show is a love letter to the places we end up at the end of the night, and the non-blood families we take there: friends, workmates and partners.

Featuring a bunch of Perth’s favourites such as Sam Longley, Libby Klysz, St John Cowcher and Tegan Mulvany, with very special musical and comedy guests.

Frankie’s: the bar where everyone knows your name. And probably your Mum’s and your housemate’s, too.

The whole Frankie’s team would also like to thank Whipper Snapper Distillery for helping us get this thing off the ground. Upshot Australian Whiskey, still the best thing on the menu at Frankie’s.

The Man and The Moon (2016-2018)

Lunacy or total eclipse of the heart? Either way it’s a hell of a love story.

When a Man realizes he’s living a life stuck in outer-middle suburbia, sometimes the best response is to head out and see where the evening tides take you.

From Variegated Productions comes a theatrical solo cabaret show starring St John Cowcher. Smoky jazz, lamenting lyrics, evocative storytelling and a Man falling in love with the wrong celestial body.

Ramshackle & Kitsch (2014-2018)

Ramshackle is an old school detective. Kitsch is new on the team – a wide-eyed hipster who is as equally excited about the job as being distracted by puppies wearing shiny collars.

The lovechild of Starsky & Hutch and The Mighty Boosh, Ramshackle & Kitsch is a manic comedy based on audience suggestions and the finest of buddy cop traditions.
